Scoutmaster Awarded With Eagle Scout Honor
On May 25th, Troop 146 Scoutmaster Norman Kasser received the Outstanding Eagle Scout Award for his service and dedication to the Troop and Scouting over his 30 years of service.
The evening started with two of Troop 146’s newest Eagles, Nick and John Facchini, serving as the color guard that presented the U.S. flag and the Northern NJ Council flag at the start of the event. In addition to Nick and John, Aidan Ward and Ethan Zhang who are also members of the class of 2022 joined. Also in attendance were Tige Mauseth and Gabriel Weaver from the 2021 class and Liam Richardson from the 2023 class. Additionally, Nick Walker class of 2003 and Francis Howitt class of 2010 also were in attendance to congratulate Norman. Troop 146 was represented not only by all the adult volunteers and several current scouts, but also 9 of Troop 146’s 35 Eagle Scouts since the troop was founded by Lenny and Marie Luizzi.
In 2010, the National Eagle Scout Association established the Outstanding Eagle Scout Award coinciding with the 100th anniversary of Scouting. The award recognizes Eagle Scouts notable for their local, state, regional, or national distinguished service. “Candidates for this award have inspired others through their positive actions reflected by recognized accomplishments and devotion to their profession, avocation, community and beliefs.”
